Workshops

Creative Painting Photography Workshop - £120
In this workshop participants will learn how to use paint and acetate to create unique colour photo prints using a technique developed by artist Gerald Curtis over the course of his project Performance into Dyspraxia.
This workshop is designed to embrace experimentation in colour theory and combine paint with the process of colour photography printing to make prints which play with ideas that are used in both photography and painting.
IRI- two day workshop by Ramona Güntert (14th/21rst May) - £80
This two day workshop explores the notion of the tactile and surface and how textures change through outside influences. It connects traditional analogue process with layering of new found materials. We will connect our process of making with nature and our close surrounding. Part of the workshop are some research materials, a small lecture, group discussion and making individually but also as a group. Once you signed up I will forward you more information about the structure of the day and things you need to bring. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions you have.

This five hour workshop will be developed following your personal interests and needs.
If you want to work on a specific technique, or are interested in experimenting with the printing process we can use our technical knowledge to help you achieve you 'goals'.

1-1 - Intro to Black and White Printing- 5h - £110
This five hour intensive course will demonstrate the process of printing from start to finish, including contact sheets, dodging and burning, split grade exposure and determining the strength and weaknesses of your negatives through to final prints/. SW Darkroom will supply all paper and chemistry needed, all you will need to bring are your pre-processed negatives. This course does not cover the process of film development, however you can make arrangements for film processing ahead of the workshop if needed.

1-1 - Intro to Colour Printing-5h - £110
This five hour intensive workshop will demonstrate colour printing from start to finish, including creating a contact sheet from a set of negatives. You will learn how to correct colour casts from test sheets through to final prints.
Intro to Black and White Printing- 3h - £80
This 3 hour intensive course will demonstrate the process of printing from start to finish.
Less intensive than the 4 hours workshop and one max 2 final prints will be done by the end of it.
SW Darkroom will supply all paper and chemistry needed, all you will need to bring are your pre-processed negatives. This course does not cover the process of film development, however you can make arrangements for film processing ahead of the workshop if needed.

CRIT SESSION- 26 May - £3
SW is organising a series of Crit sessions!
We know how difficult is to keep on working on yours/ ours ART PRACTICE, that is why we would like to offer a series of evening Crit sessions.
Each participant will have the chance to share their work in progress, talk about their current practice and get some useful feedback from the lead technician and the group.

We ask for a small £3 fee to provide some drinks and food for the evening

The first session this year will be on the 26 of May
Starting from 5.30 pm till 8 pm
FILM PROCESSING WORKSHOP - £50
In this 2 + hours Workshop you will learn how to load your own film in a Patterson tank (which can load from 35mm up to 4x5 inches sheet films).
We will talk about the different chemistry that allows your images to appear and be fixed on your film's surface. Then we will find solutions, temperature and time to obtain the right standard development for your film stock.
If you are interested in Pushing and pulling we can also mention these two processes and show you the difference in grain and contrast.
