Workshops

Workshop - Intro to Black and White Printing - £90
Learn the craft of Darkroom Printing with our in-house technician, Lewin St Cyr . Lewin is also the Darkroom technician at The Royal College of Art and will teach you everything you need to know in order to begin your darkroom career.

This four-hour intensive course will show students the process of printing from start to finish, as well as introducing the role of dodging and burning, a crucial part to making exhibition level prints. Places will be limited to 3 per session so that each student has access to their own enlarger, and the space will allow for 2 metre social distancing to be possible. SW Darkroom will supply all paper and chemistry needed, all we need from you are your pre-processed negatives. This course does not cover the process of film development, but we will be running additional workshops for this in the future.

Workshop - Intro to Colour Printing - £90
This four hour workshop will be run by Lewin St Cyr, our technical guru. Lewin will teach participants how to create a contact sheet from a set of colour negatives.

IRI- by Ramona Güntert - £60
This two day workshop (Saturday 9th and 16th of October) explores the notion of the tactile and surface and how textures change through outside influences. It connects traditional analogue process with layering of new found materials. We will connect our process of making with nature and our close surrounding. Part of the workshop are some research materials, a small lecture, group discussion and making individually but also as a group. Once you signed up I will forward you more information about the structure of the day and things you need to bring. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions you have.

A photogram is a print made by exposure of darkroom photo paper with light.
Leaving various objects on the surface of the paper, their shadows will create an imprint- an amazing image without the use of a camera.
